UCR appointed as Octopus Acquirer in Retail Business
On 1 November 2006, UCR signed contract with Octopus Cards Limited and became the acquirer of Octopus Payment Scheme. From now on, retail shop owners can apply for Octopus Payment Scheme via UCR.
"We are much honored to be business partner of Octopus Cards Limited. And at the same time, we are proud to put our effort on popularizing Octopus Card – which is a very convenient payment method for retail business. UCR will assist retail shop owners who want to accept Octopus Card for payments. And we will bring many preferential benefits for them," said Mr. Johnny Choi, Managing Director, UCR.
Over 3,000 retail shops in Hong Kong are now accepting Octopus Card payment option. The coverage ranges from large chain stores to supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores, fast food restaurants and household stores.
Signing a co-ordination contract with UCR completely fits Octopus’s plans to expand rapidly into other retail sectors and accelerate Octopus Card integration into daily lives.
